What are the benefits of using a GigE interface camera?
GigE is a well-established and trusted technology due to the many protocols available, such as GenlCam. It is well-suited for a wide range of applications, including high-resolution cameras, real-time image processing, and robust data transmission. Furthermore, because of its twisted shielded pairs, this interface does not suffer from interference due to external sources such as RF (Radio Frequencies). GigE enables long range data transfer, with cable lengths of up to 100m, whereas USB is up to 7m (without optical/active cables).
What are the CS series cameras?
The CS series is a range of USB 3.0 and GigE industrial cameras manufactured by HIKROBOT. They utilise advanced high performance CMOS sensors, such as STARVIS and Pregius from Sony. The new second generation CS series industrial cameras come with outstanding image sensors, a wide dynamic range, a favourable signal-to-noise ratio, exceptional image quality, an efficient power consumption design, compatibility with machine vision standard protocols and GenlCam standards, and effortless integration with third-party software. They are equipped with a range of intricate algorithms and features, including lossless compression, 2D noise reduction, lens shading correction, CCM, and more. These enhancements work together to enhance the overall image quality of the camera, ensuring a higher frame rate and superior quality in all aspects.
What is an NIR Industrial camera?
NIR (Near Infrared) industrial cameras have an improved NIR response to a standard visible camera. Near-infrared (NIR) radiation falls between visible and SWIR (Short Wave Infrared) in the electromagnetic spectrum. They find frequent use in industrial settings where near-infrared imaging is essential for quality control, sorting, inspection, and monitoring processes involving materials or objects with unique features in the NIR range.

FAQ's & Further Information
How do I choose the right camera for my application?
Choosing the right camera involves evaluating several key factors, including the size and speed of the object being inspected, the required resolution, the field of view, and environmental conditions such as lighting and vibration. Understanding these parameters ensures that the selected camera can reliably capture the necessary image data for accurate inspection or measurement.
Do I need a rolling shutter or a global shutter camera?
The choice between a rolling shutter and a global shutter depends on your application, particularly the speed of motion you need to capture and the level of image accuracy required.
A rolling shutter sensor captures an image line-by-line. This makes it a cost-effective option and perfectly suitable for many general-purpose vision tasks where objects are relatively static or moving slowly. However, when imaging fast-moving objects or scenes with rapid changes, rolling shutter can introduce distortion (such as skewing or “jello” effects).
A global shutter sensor, on the other hand, captures the entire image at the same instant. This eliminates motion distortion and ensures accurate image capture, making it ideal for high-speed applications such as industrial automation, robotics, and inspection systems.
