Wheel Identification

Fundo Wheels is a leading automotive supplier of Aluminium Wheels to the BMW, Audi and Saab. They are located in Høyanger Norway. The Scorpion system was installed three years ago to prevent Fundo Wheels from shipping wheel of different type and dimensions to one car.

 

To the right a screen shot of the running system is shown. The system has two cameras capturing three images. The following properties are extracted from the images: height, diameter, number of bolts and surface pattern of the wheel.

 

The system is trained by the operator with the following procedure:

1: capture an image of the wheel

2: give the wheel a unique name and id.

 

In operation the operator selects the active wheel and the system removes all other wheel types and dimension from the conveyor. The system identifies more than 75 wheels types automatically 24 hours a day 365 days a years to our and Fundo Wheels complete satisfaction.
