Fehrer Sweden AB constructs, develops and makes products in polyuretan for the Swedish car industry.

 

The company's main product selection is fitting details centered on car seats. Other product groups are energy and sound absorptions as well as complementary products such as head restraints, arm rests and different panels.

The zero defect strategy

Within the car industry there is a zero defect strategy, meaning that at the same time the margins shrink, the production volume and the quality and delivery requirements increases. The car industry is continuously endeavoring lower prices, correct quality and stable deliveries. In our production there are very high quality requirements and we have a high focus on quality issues. Our customers require the production to be documented down to the smallest detail. We have decided to introduce vision systems to guaranty a stable and correct quality and to remove working tasks with risk of labour injury.

Do it yourself

With the Scorpion Vision Software having a simple and easy to understand user interface, standardized dialogs and a mature and well proven toolbox, it was easy to follow the slogan "do it yourself". After a two days course and support from the Scorpion Support Center I could make a control system for Volvo XC 90 fitting details. With the Scorpion Starter Kit including the Scorpion Enterprise license, a firewire camera and a two days course and a standard pc, I had everything needed to make the identification system. I got support from the Scorpion Support Center by phone and e-mail. I sent WinZip-files with my "profile" to the support center and got help and hints to improve it. When returned I could directly implement it in my Scorpion system and it run. Scorpion Vision Software is now one of our standard tools to solve automation tasks. The flexibility on choice of camera and the possibility to select within many Scorpion variants to an acceptable price, makes Scorpion our future choice, says Ove Marberg.
